Beta Project- Final Results

After my reevaluation of the project I came up with more original ideas and started thinking about what "sacred circle" i wanted to create and I chose. Home, School, Home again. Students go through this stressful transition everyday, so i wanted to bring home to school. I wanted to create a comfortable environment on the outside and a more intimate space for the pottery area. overall i am very pleased with the results.

Back to The Drawing Boards

After meeting with Patrick and the rest of the art group this morning I am inspired to go back to the drawing boards. My space doesnt make a lot of sense at this point. I have so many ideas, traditional and outside of the box that I need to find a way to incorporate them. The meeting helped so much and I feel as if I may be getting my 'mojo' back. I am ready to jump back into the space and come up with something fantastic. I want to use Andy Goldsworthy as a full inspiration keeping in mind that sustainability and LEED HAVE to be incorporated into the space to keep with the absolute structure of the entire building. We shall see!

Atlanta

Ah Atlanta, what a trip that was. Above is some snow... that we had to drive thru to get there, it sure was beautiful! By the time we arrived in Atlanta it was just raining so that was good. During the trip we visited a bunch of architectural firms and office furniture dealers. It was a great experience. It was disappointing however to know that NO ONE was hiring at all... made me worry a little bit about my future... But overall it was a good trip. I cant wait to go back and actually go to the aquarium and coca-cola factory!

Northern Guilford Middle/High School

As a class we visited Northern Guilford Middle School and High School just to get a jist of some of the good and bad aspects of each school. It was interesting to see how much sustainability existed, but I was completely shocked at how many issues there were. You would think with new facilities that there would be no complaints, but there definitely were. The buildings were designed withOUT the user in mind. It is our mission to go in and redesign spaces to make them completely functional for the users in the space and make it visually appealing at the same time.

Favorite Teacher

My favorite teacher was my history teacher my tenth grade in high school. He was known for his ties, how he never wore the same one more than once a year. He had a way of really bringing students into history and making it interesting. He focused mostly on European history, seeing as how he was German.
Another of my favorite teachers was my CAD teacher at Lincoln School of Technology. Without him I would not have the talents I have today and wouldn't be where I am design wise. I always enjoyed his class because he would let me help other students and grade papers after I was done with my work for the class period.

Beta Charette (Room 204)

For the Beta Charette, a lecturn had to be designed for use by the teachers and students as well as guest lecturers.
These are a couple views of the final lecturn that was designed for the project.
It includes space inside for a generator and CPU so that it can be completely mobile.

As for the rest of the project, we redesigned the room to accommodate 12 projectors that would engulf the space in projected images. We wanted the space to be a full experience of the project being presented. There could be projection on all surfaces including the floor and ceiling.
